Where is Wickenburg? 55 miles Northwest of Phoenix of Highway 60 - at the northern edge of the Sonoran Desert and in the foothills of the Bradshaw Mountains.
What is the population? Approximately 10,000 residents in town and surrounding areas. The population swells with winter visitors from October through May.
How hot does it get? The winter average is 65º and 103º in July. Wickenburg is always cooler than Phoenix because we don't have as much concrete. This area is very popular for winter homes because of our mild winters, low humidity and 2,100 elevation with clean, dry air. We can see snow in the Bradshaw's but don't have to deal with it under our feet.
I've heard I need to own a pair of boots. Wickenburg is known for western hospitality where residents and visitors feel a sense of community. You might own boots if you enjoy equestrian activities and the many festivals celebrating our western heritage, but you don't need boots to enjoy a wide range of activities from golfing, walking, flying, hiking, swimming, playing tennis, taking in the museum, movies, galleries and gift shops or just enjoying the area's natural beauty, open spaces and vistas. Most homes and landscapes are low-maintainance which allows more time for relaxation.
Is it convenient to shopping? There are two grocery stores with pharmacies, a drug store and other general stores for essentials. Extensive shopping is available in Phoenix -- 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hour south -- depending upon what you are looking for. Some locals go to Prescott for a change of scenery. "Wickenburgers" enjoy living here to escape the traffic and pace of Phoenix and Prescott.
Is there a hospital? Yes, Wickenburg Community Hospital offers diagnostic exams using state-of-the-art equipment, a full-service lab, emergency services, patient care, rehabilitation facilities, a fitness center and more. Private general physicians and visiting specialists take care of most patient needs locally. The hospital works with many medical facilities in Phoenix for in-depth care.
Is there a golf course? Yes, the Rancho de los Caballeros Golf Club and Wickenburg Country Club courses are open year-round.
